Job summary

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a specialist eating disorder dietitian to join the countywide children’s eating disorder service. The postholder will work with two clinical leads and a broader MDT, delivering clinics, assessments, and collaborative care with paediatricians and therapists.

The role involves senior autonomous practice, audit participation, and contributing to policy within a supportive NHS environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics leading to HPC registration.
• Registration as a Dietitian.
• Teaching qualification or experience delivering groups.
• Substantial post‑registration dietetic experience in community and mental health services.
• Postgraduate specialist dietetic training or equivalent clinical practice.
• Advanced counselling skills training or experience.
• Membership of British Dietetic Association Mental Health Group.
• Experience working with mental illness and eating disorders.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver a high quality Nutrition and Dietetic service to the area.
• Work as a senior autonomous practitioner delivering a high quality dietetic service in Cornwall Foundation Trust.
• Support and establish audit and robust evaluation of the dietetic service.
• Approach tasks with an open mind and respond empathetically to situations.
• Ensure nutrition/dietetic participation in multi‑professional teams and contribute to policy.
• Be a key member of the MDT.
• Be a key member of the Dietitians Mental Health Team within Cornwall Foundation Trust.

Job overview

We are excited to go out to advert for a specialist eating disorder dietitian to join our countywide children's eating disorder service.

The postholder will be supported by our two clinical lead dietitians, and part of a welcoming broader MDT. This is a community position which will involve facilitating dietetic clinics, joining with other clinicians to conduct assessments, joining with paediatricians as part of their clinics, and joining therapists in appointments as required too.

Main duties of the job

• To plan and deliver a high quality Nutrition and Dietetic service to this area and contribute to service development as required.
• To work as a senior autonomous practitioner delivering a high quality dietetic service in Cornwall Foundation Trust.
• To help to support and/or establish audit and robust evaluation of the dietetic service
• To have a high level of knowledge, skills and experience in order to approach tasks with an open and understanding mind and deal with situations in a timely and empathic manner.
• To be responsible for nutrition and dietetic participation in multi-professional teams and contribute to policy making as directed by the head of service.
• To work as a key member of the Multi-disciplinary Team.
• To work as a key member of the Dietitians Mental Health Team within Cornwall Foundation Trust.

Person specification

Education / Qualifications and Relevant Experience

• Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or equivalent leading to Health Professions Council (HPC)
• Registration as a Dietitian
• A teaching qualification or experience of teaching groups.
• A wide range of post registration dietetic experience including delivery of services in the community and some experience of working in Mental health services
• Specialist Dietetic Training at Post graduate diploma level or relevant equivalent experience gained through substantial advanced clinical practice
• Advanced certificate in counselling skills or counselling experience
• Membership of the British Dietetic Association Mental Health Group.
• Working with people with mental illness and eating disorders.

Skills and Aptitude

• Demonstrate an understanding of mental illness and how this may impact on the nutritional and dietetic needs of an individual.
• An ability to evaluate and report on complex data
• Able to work in highly stressful situations including the ability to manage distressing and highly emotive situations successfully.
