Job summary

We are delighted to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious, and dynamic individual to join our committed and well-integrated multidisciplinary team, providing high-standard care to the local community. This is a full-time, substantive post (>10 Programmed Activities).

The team at FGH has worked hard to develop the stroke service, maintaining strong regional links as part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Network. Monitoring is carried out through weekly breach meetings, peer mortality reviews, monthly governance meetings, and close adherence to SSNAP criteria, on which we consistently receive an 'A' rating.

An opportunity to become Clinical Lead for Stroke is also available for suitable candidates with the right experience.

Main duties of the job

Furness General Hospital provides an active acute thrombolysis service (with thrombectomy at Royal Preston Hospital) and utilizes the specialist Telestroke On-Call Service out of hours and at weekends. You may join the general medicine On-Call Rota, Telestroke On-Call rota, or both.

The post supports the ongoing development of the Stroke Service. You will work alongside three existing Stroke Consultants, one locum consultant, and a wider Care of the Elderly and General Medicine team. You will liaise with Neuroradiology, Neurosurgery, and Vascular Surgery teams, as well as Nurse Consultants, Stroke Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Matrons, Ward Managers, Nurses, Therapists, and Secretaries to ensure excellent patient care at all stages of the hospital journey. You will also provide clinical leadership to a dedicated team.
