A leading healthcare trust in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Ophthalmologist to deliver comprehensive ophthalmology services across multiple hospitals. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a dedicated team, engage in quality improvement efforts, and have opportunities for clinical leadership and research. We are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated individual to join our Ophthalmology team. This post is aimed at providing ophthalmology services at the four hospitals attached to the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate is expected to deliver general ophthalmological services including once a week acute clinic with prospective cover, with the option for specialist clinics in paediatric ophthalmology depending on applicant knowledge, skills and experience.
The post holder is expected to work with the Consultant sub-specialty leads to mitigate possible risks to the service and to support the service's administrative team in organising, planning, and maintaining a safe and well-led service.
This post will benefit from a well-supported, regular 10 PA job plan. This may include general, paediatric, retinal, cataract and emergency work. The post holder will be a key member of the ophthalmology team and is expected to approach the role with a team-based view on relationships within the department and with other specialties in the organisation. The successful candidate will be encouraged to engage and contribute to clinical audit, governance and quality improvement and innovation in the specialty and trust. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to take up lead roles in various services involving the department. There will be a lot of opportunities to involve in various research in this post.
