A leading NHS Trust in London is seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow in HPB Surgery for an initial 12 months starting April 2026. We are seeking to appoint a Senior Clinical Fellow at post CCT level in HPB Surgery. The position will be based at the Royal London Hospital for an initial 12 months, with the possibility of extension, starting in April 2026. The Royal London Hospital is a tertiary referral centre for HPB Surgery, offering excellent opportunities for surgical trainees to gain experience in both basic and complex procedures.
The post is not formally approved by the Deanery for higher surgical training, but the workload will be similar to that of a Higher Surgical Trainee (HST).
Candidates should have the FRCS or equivalent and be peri-CCT. Evidence of strong personal motivation, along with experience in audit or teaching, is desirable. This is an exciting opportunity for surgical trainees seeking to consolidate their experience at the senior registrar level in a centre of surgical excellence in London.
The role may require work at other Barts Health sites, in addition to the Royal London Hospital.

This position offers support and advanced training in HPB Surgery, with potential experience as a consultant general surgeon on call, to be discussed at interview.
The HPB Surgery Unit at Barts and the London NHS Trust is based at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, with other sites including St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Newham Hospital, and Whipps Cross Hospital.
The team comprises 5 consultant surgeons, 3-5 SpR trainees, 2-3 SHO trainees, 3 FYIs, Nurse Specialists, MDT Co-Ordinator, and patient pathway co-ordinators. The workload covers all aspects of HPB Surgery except liver transplantation.
