Main duties of the job
  • Deliver specialist paediatricdietetic care to children, young people, families, and healthcare professionalsacross hospital and community settings.
  • Manage an autonomous caseload in both inpatientareas (Childrens Ward and Childrens Assessment Unit) and outpatient clinics.
  • Provide nutritional assessment, treatment, andmanagement for a wide range of conditions, including cows milk allergy,multiple food allergies, restricted eating, faltering growth, and coeliacdisease.
  • Facilitate group education sessions for childrenwith restricted eating behaviours.
  • Gain experience in managing children requiringartificial enteral tube feeding.
  • Use evidence-based practice to assess, plan,implement, and evaluate dietetic interventions, ensuring care is holistic andpatient-centred.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensivedietetic records according to professional and local standards.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teamsincluding paediatricians, GPs, community teams, and specialist services.
  • Participate in clinical audit, servicedevelopment, and student training to support continuous service improvement.

  • Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the county and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010
  • Willingness to undertake post registration qualifications in Paediatrics (can be obtained in post)
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD
  • Recent NHS experience
  • BDA Member
  • Member of an Interest Group of the BDA
  • Post registration qualifications in paediatrics e.g. BDA or Masters modules
Registration
  • HCPC Registration
knowledge
  • An understanding of relevant legislation, clinical governance, risk assessment and continuing quality improvement
  • An understanding of the importance of health & safety in the workplace.
  • Awareness of current initiatives in the NHS
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance
  • Ability to critically analyse evidence based practice
  • Knowledge of legislation to Specialist Area (can be obtained through CPD whilst in post)
Experience
  • Clinical experience working as a Band 5 or above
  • Clinical experience of working with a broad range of patients in a wide variety of settings, including an inpatient setting.
  • Experience of supervision of junior staff
  • Evidence of participation in research/audit
