Our Radiography service is offering fantastic opportunities in CT to join our team in a vibrant and lively location of the English Riviera, Devon. This is an opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated Radiographers to join our highly experienced CT team in Torbay Hospital. We are looking for Radiographers who have a level of CT experience or who are considering moving to a role in CT. The post holder will work wholly within the CT scanning department.

For those who cannot demonstrate relevant competencies, this will be a training post at band 5. Once relevant training and competencies have been completed the role will be uplifted to Band 6. This is expected to take approximately 3 months but no longer than 6 months.

In your role, you can expect to be responsible for managing the workload in the area your are responsible for. You will provide high quality diagnostic CT imaging and support more complex procedures, where this is appropriate for the role and after appropriate training.

Main duties of the job
  • To work within all mandated Regulatory guidelines and comply with all Trust and Departmental, Policies Protocols and Guidelines, ensuring high quality, safe working practices in a safe working environment
  • Provide highest quality of care, treating all patients equally.
  • To work as part of the wider TSDFT team, supporting patient pathways for all patient types, assuring that patients receive the most effective and efficient service
  • You will supervise and advise trainees and students and be part of the 24 hours/7-day provision of service. This will involve working without more senior radiographic supervision on-site
  • You are responsible for maintaining your registration and, ideally, a relevant iv cannulation certificate of competency
About us

The CT team is led by our Superintendent Radiographer and clinically supported and supervised by two Consultant Radiologists. If you join our team, you will join a service that is multi-disciplinary, staffed by a mix of permanent CT Radiographers and colleagues with split CT and Plain Film roles.

You will be working 37.5 hours per week across our 24/7 service, largely working 12 hour shifts. However applications from those wanting part time work will be considered.

Meanwhile, Plymouth and Exeter are also both within a short drive to enjoy the culture, maritime history and shopping experiences.

Job responsibilities
  • BSc Radiography or DCR (+ CPD/experience).Current HCPC registration.
  • Entitled as Operator under IRMER (Ionising Radiation (medical exposure) Regulations).
  • Have detailed evidence of appropriate ongoing professional development(professional portfolio).
  • Perform all administrative tasks required, including data entry onto Radiology Information System (CRIS).
  • Consistently demonstrate excellent communication abilities.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills as they will have contact and working relationships with patients/public, a wide variety of staff, including all radiology personnel, medical staff, nurses, healthcare professionals,support staff, and visiting equipment engineers.
  • In any booked or ad hoc list patients may be ambulant; wheel chair bound; or on a stretcher or bed. Transfer to a couch may be necessary.Use of a hoist may be necessary.
  • Ability to prioritise workload coming in from wards, ED and ICU, whilst managing the outpatient bookings, and maintaining a professional working relationship with the referring clinicians from across the Trust.
