The post focuses on delivering high-quality outpatient rheumatology care with inpatient involvement as required and opportunities for education and leadership.

The ideal candidate will hold a CCT in Rheumatology or be nearing completion, with an interest in MSK and GCA ultrasound.

Qualifications

• CCT in Rheumatology would be preferred.
• Interest/experience in MSK and GCA ultrasound desirable.
• Higher qualification in medical education and leadership/management experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• The postholder will primarily support outpatient rheumatology services and may participate in inpatient care as required.
• The role supports development of rheumatology services, including biologics, CTD and fracture liaison services, and developing new initiatives such as Ankylosing Spondylitis clinics and transitional care.

Job description

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed doctor to join our existing Rheumatology team based at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. The post is suitable for those with Rheumatology experience including candidates with more experience who are looking for stability and career development. The appointee will provide a specialist rheumatological service in conjunction with Nine other Rheumatology Consultants based across both the Winchester and Basingstoke sites.

This post is central to delivering effective patient care at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post will be primarily based at Basingstoke, but you may be asked to attend other sites as required. The post will be involved in all aspects of diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Candidates with CCT in Rheumatology would be preferred. Ideally with interest and experience in MSK and GCA ultrasound. Higher qualification in medical education and leadership/management experience is also desirable.

The postholder will provide support primarily for our outpatient service but will also be involved with inpatient care as well. This post will provide support for our Rheumatology outpatient service but also help us to achieve our 5-year goal of excellent care in Rheumatology including our biologics, CTD and fracture liaison services. Setting up an Ankylosing Spondylitis service, Rheumatology transition to adulthood and Fracture Liaison services are particular areas in development at the present time
