We are looking for a meticulous and experienced professional to join our People Operations team as the Specialist - People Compliance & Governance. This role is crucial in ensuring that our People function operates with maturity, high compliance, and excellent controls.
As the Specialist - People Compliance & Governance, you will ensure that the People function operates with maturity and high compliance, with excellent controls. You will collaborate across the function to ensure cyclical reviews of our activities, legislative and regulatory alignment, and excellent stakeholder and risk management. Your work will support the function in complying with relevant industry rules and regulations, maintaining the company's reputation and integrity.
This role reports to the Manager - People Operations, Excellence UK and sits within the People Operations directorate. You will work closely with the People Leadership Team, Process Owners, Internal Audit, and external third parties to ensure compliance and governance standards are met.
Day to day
- Evaluate existing policies and procedures, identifying gaps and areas that need improvement.
- Conduct assessments and analyses of potential risks, developing risk management strategies.
- Monitor and assess adherence to all current and future regulations in collaboration with the Centres of Excellence (COEs), reviewing data to validate compliance against legislation.
- Maintain records and version control of People team procedures, policies, and process maps.
- Support the People Leadership Team and Process Owners to identify gaps, make recommendations, and drive continuous improvement.
- Influence cross-functional teams to ensure People team plans align with legislation/regulation and are compliant.
- Secure commitment across a variety of People and business stakeholders without direct leadership responsibility.
- Persuade and influence a wide range of teams to explore and adopt new ways of working, thinking, and innovating, with strong controls.
- Navigate the organisation and influence others to support the compliance agenda.
- Collaborate with Internal Audit and external third parties to achieve the best results for the team.
- Present findings and updates through various mediums in multiple formats.
- Hold areas accountable where there is risk or inaction without direct line management.
About you- Professional certifications related to governance, risk management, and compliance, such as CRISC, CISA, or ISO 27001, are desired but not essential.
- Practical experience in project management, risk assessment, and compliance management is essential.
- CIPD qualification is advantageous.
- Superb analytical, stakeholder, and communication skills.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and secure commitment from various stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Understanding of HR compliance and governance (e.g. employee law changes, pension regulations, and national minimum wage).
