Specialist Community Forensic Team Recovery Worker

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a bespoke community team working with service users with a mental health diagnosis and forensic backgrounds.

The post holder will work with people under the care of the Specialist Community Forensic Team. You will provide support to individuals within secure hospitals & in the community setting. You will be able to build excellent therapeutic relationships with individuals working to enhance their discharge pathway.

You will be working with a team with a recovery focus to encourage the development of independence. You will be part of an intensive specialist multidisciplinary team and contribute to risk management under civil and forensic sections of the Mental Health Act ( 1983).

We are a small multi disciplinary team including Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist, Social Workers, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational therapist and Senior Recovery Worker.

Main duties of the job

• Develop a rapport with service users within appropriate boundaries.
• Encourage service users to be fully involved and engaged with their agreed care plan and to access appropriate services/ activities.
• Implement agreed programmes of care collaboratively with service users and carers under the supervision of a named professional.
• Help to identify early signs of relapse by monitoring the service user's progress, level of functioning and mental state and alert the appropriate staff involved in their care.
• Take a role in evaluation of care provided.
• Identify and support carer needs as required.
• Take a role in health promotion including physical health needs.
• Participate in and support involvement in social activity groups.
• Maintain accurate service user records.

Job responsibilities

This is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities and in discussion with the manager the postholder may be required to undertake other duties which fall within the Banding of the post. • To have a working knowledge of the Mental Health Act
• To be aware of and abide by service policies re confidentiality and information sharing
• Receive supervision from agreed supervisor on a regular, planned basis, and work within the appraisal process
• Access peer supervision and contribute to the development of others via attendance at regular multi disciplinary reflective practice meetings
• To be committed to individual professional development, ensure compliance with mandatory training and support development of the Recovery Worker role
• To maintain accurate and up to date records of all contacts and interventions with service users
• To undertake any other duties that maybe allocated by the Team Manager within the general scope of the post and appropriate to the grade.

Person Specification

Knowledge

• Able to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Previous experience of working with people across the age range, with varying mental health needs.
• Able to accept instructions from senior staff and show initiative when appropriate. oAble to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Has or willing to undertake NVQ Level 3 in care qualification
• Knowledge of current issues affecting people with serious mental illness. Knowledge of Early Interventions service and care pathway.
• Current UK Driving Licence & Access to vehicle

Knowledge

• Achived NVQ Level 3 in Care
• Interest in further education in regards to role.

Knowledge

• Has previous experience of working in a forensic community or inpatient team.
• Has worked in similar role previously.
• HAs experience of working with rehabilitation/recovery focused manner
