Job summary

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Clinical Nurse Endoscopist to join a supportive team of nurse endoscopists, consultants and clinical nurse specialists in the Colorectal Surgery team. The role requires Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Scopist training and involves work across endoscopy, outpatients and MDT collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Work primarily in endoscopy and outpatients across Trust areas.
• Provide Trust-wide outpatient clinics for cancer and benign patients as planned in the job remit.
• Provide Trust-wide cover for colleagues within their clinical scope.
• Collaborate closely with the MDT (multidisciplinary team).
• Contribute to specialist endoscopists training for nurses and medical staff per JAG guidelines.

Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a clinical nurse endoscopist to join our team. This role is ideally suited to an experienced endoscopist who will join a supportive team of nurse endoscopists, Consultants and Clinical Nurse Specialists in the Colorectal Surgery team at Northumbria Healthcare. This is an exciting and varied role with the expectation that the appointed candidate is Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Scopist trained.,

• The post holder will be required to work in a variety of areas; primarily endoscopy and outpatients on a Trust wide basis.
• Provide Trust wide outpatient clinics for cancer / benign patients agreed in the job plan. A variety of patient contacts are required, which will include face to face and telephone advice
• The post holder is expected to provide Trust wide cover for colleagues for services within their own clinical expertise.
• Required to work closely with the MDT.
• To contribute to provision of core specialist endoscopists training to nurses and medical staff (within Joint Advisory Group for Endoscopy Training (JAG) guidelines). We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England.
