Job summary

To work together with the established 8b in paediatric haematology to develop further the services available to young people and their families living with sickle cell.

Main duties of the job

To provide a qualified clinical psychology service to patients being seen within the Paediatric Service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust providing specialist psychological and cognitive assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on patients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.

Person Specification TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS Essential
  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
  • Registration with the HCPC as a clinical psychologist-domain of clinical psychology
Desirable
  • Training and qualifications in a relevant field of applied psychology/research methodology.
EXPERIENCE Essential
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment, cognitive assessments e.g. WISC, and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including child, young people and their families.
Desirable
  • Pre and/or post qualification experience of working in a paediatric psychology team
  • Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervising
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Essential
  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment including formal psychometric assessments such as WISC-UK, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration
