Job summary

Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust in Wakefield is seeking a part-time pharmacist to join our surgical pharmacy team, focusing on medicines optimisation for surgical in-patients across General Surgery, Urology, Orthopaedics, Plastics and Burns.

You will perform medicines reconciliation on admission and discharge, review prescriptions using your prescribing qualification, counsel patients, and contribute to training of pharmacy staff while supporting service development and audits across sites.

Job description

This opportunity to join our surgical pharmacy team on a part time (26.5 hours/week) basis will suit an enthusiastic pharmacist with an interest in medicines optimisation for surgical in-patients. You will work across a variety of surgical specialties such as General Surgery, Urology, Orthopaedics, Plastics and Burns.

You will join our friendly team to complete medicines reconciliation on admission and discharge, prescription review including using your prescribing qualification, patient counselling and contributing to training of pharmacy staff.

• Provide a clinical pharmacy service to surgical in-patients across the Trust
• Support service development and audit work within the specialties
• Supervise a trainee pharmacist during their training year
• Contribute to the pharmacist weekend, bank holiday and on-call rotas
