Job description

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join our existing patient-focused team of rotational Specialist Clinical Pharmacists who provide our clinical pharmacy service to the specialist wards and the Acute Medical Unit at the Royal Oldham Hospital.

This post offers 22.5 hours per week and flexible working arrangements can be considered.

This rotational post will provide you with an outstanding breadth of experience in a comprehensive portfolio of specialised areas including: Medical Admissions, Critical Care, Haematology, Clinical Trials, Women’s and Children’s services and Level 3 Neonates as well as other surgical and medical specialities.

This position is ideal for pharmacists looking to develop clinical skills in a dynamic working environment, who are working towards a Post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or equivalent. Consideration will be given to current band 6 pharmacists who can provide evidence of current experience to an acceptable level and who are committed to achieving a clinical diploma in an agreed timescale.

Your role will be focused on the medicine optimisation of patients admitted through our specialities to identify medication-related issues that may have led to the admission, the reduction of risks from prescribing errors and the ongoing review of prescribing in order to ensure harm-free care for patients.

Working in these specialities will provide you the opportunity to work closely with a variety of other healthcare professionals including specialist nurses and consultants to treat patients in a way that delivers the best care for them.

You will be expected to work as an integral part of the MDT by providing expert advice regarding medication management, supporting medical staff to ensure safe and cost-effective prescribing and to provide accurate information to primary care and community care providers on discharge.

You must be a motivated and driven pharmacist with excellent clinical and communication skills. You must be efficient, organised, being able to work both in a team and autonomously and be innovative and resourceful. You must be willing to work flexible hours over a seven-day period within a structured rota.
