Job summaryThis is a full time post for a Specialist Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (Band 7) to join the Whole Family Team with Perinatal Specialism (WFT-P) for 11 months. The WFT-P is a highly specialist service offering psychological therapy to families during pregnancy and with babies, toddlers and children up to the age of 5 years. The team comprises of Clinical Psychology, Child and Educational Psychology, Systemic Family Psychotherapy, Child Psychotherapy and Psychiatry. The team is set up to work with families who might fall through the gaps in other services and/or have a complex relationship to help. The WFT-P is co-located within Camden Children Centre Services and is designed to work closely with other early years professionals including, Family Support, Social Work and Health Visiting.
Main duties of the jobThe WFT-P specialises in working with families facing complex difficulties, who may be working with several professionals and may struggle to access community services. We provide specialist interventions for families where there are issues related to complex trauma and attachment. In addition to offering direct interventions, the WFS offers a large amount of consultation and risk support (under the thrive model) to other professionals working with children, young people and their families. The post will involve offering consultation, assessment and intervention to families referred to the service.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Degree level as a minimum plus developed specialist and practical knowledge equating to postgraduate degree/ Masters level
- Registration with HCPC or relevant body as a Clinical Psychologist or Counselling Psychologist.
ExperienceEssential- Evidence of clinical experience of working with client population. A clear track record of managing complexity and risk whilst maintaining high standards of service delivery
- A comprehensive understanding of the changing NHS and Social Care environment and the challenges they face
- Experience of working at all levels of the system with internal and external stakeholders
- Expertise of managing and treating the client group Some experience of clinical supervision
Desirable- Some experience of clinical management of staff
- Some experience of involvement in project work e.g. quality improvement
SkillsEssential- High level of skill and knowledge in safeguarding and risk management
- Personal duty of care in relation to equipment or resources
- Basic keyboard skills for updating client records
- Ability to manage own clinical case load
KnowledgeEssential- Willingness to contribute to strategic and business planning
- Skills for assessing and communicating complex client conditions and applying appropriate clinical treatments
