A leading cancer center in Greater London is seeking a Band 8a Specialist Nurse to join their Children's Safeguarding team. This role involves providing safeguarding supervision, delivering training, and collaborating with multiple agencies to protect children's welfare. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and committed practitioner to join the Royal Marsden Hospital Children’s Safeguarding team, as a Band 8a Specialist Nurse for Safeguarding Children. This is a varied role, which includes offering safeguarding supervision and support, delivering integrated safeguarding training, undertaking audits, and as a tertiary centre working in partnership with multiple local authorities and partnerships. The post holder will work with a range of key professionals to contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of services designed to protect children and young people from harm and promote their welfare through safeguarding processes requiring excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The Specialist Safeguarding Children’s Nurse will assist the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children in leading on the application and delivery of the national and regional safeguarding agenda across the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. This includes working to ensure the Trust meets its legislative and statutory requirements to safeguard children as set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023), the Children Acts (1989 & 2004), the National Service Framework for Children, Young people, and Maternity Services (2004) and the Care Quality Commission Core Standard 7 (Safeguarding people who use services from abuse).
The post holder is responsible for providing a high level of expertise, professional leadership, advice, support, and expert guidance in respect of safeguarding children. The post holder will provide professional leadership and expert advice to all Divisions in the Trust.
