Job summary

Marlin Environmental Services in Plymouth is seeking a Specialist Cleaning Technician to join our expert team. This permanent, full-time role involves hands-on cleaning, servicing, and repairs across systems, using jet washers and vacuum tankers.

You will comply with Health & Safety and environmental regulations, work in confined spaces with appropriate PPE, and ensure accurate paperwork and customer satisfaction on every site.

Qualifications

• Experience with specialist cleaning in marine environments.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
• Ability to follow MAR pack procedures and cleaning standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out specialist cleaning, servicing and repairs across systems and facilities.
• Tackle tanks, bilges, compartments and ventilation systems with precision.
• Operate high-pressure jet washers and vacuum tankers.
• Maintain compliance with Health & Safety, Waste Management and environmental regulations.
• Work in confined spaces using proper PPE and safety procedures.
• Complete paperwork accurately and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Support other trades and undertake fire sentry duties when required.
• Represent Marlin on customer sites with high standards of cleanliness and conduct.

What You’ll Be Doing

No two days look the same. You’ll be:

• Carrying out specialist cleaning, servicing and repairs across a wide range of systems and facilities
• Tackling tanks, bilges, compartments and ventilation systems with precision and professionalism
• Using high‑pressure jet washers and vacuum tankers to keep systems operating safely
• Maintaining strict compliance with Health & Safety, Waste Management and environmental regulations
• Working in confined spaces using the correct PPE and safety procedures
• Completing all paperwork accurately and ensuring customer satisfaction every time
• Supporting other trade groups and undertaking fire sentry duties when required
• Representing Marlin on customer sites with the highest standards of cleanliness and conduct

Qualifications

What You Bring

You’re someone who knows their way around specialist equipment and understands the importance of safe working practices. Ideally, you have:

• Experience starting up and shutting down vacuum tankers and hot pressure washers
• Knowledge of pumping liquid/waste between ship and shore
• Solid understanding of Confined Space working
• Ability to follow MAR pack procedures for specialist cleaning
• Understanding of cleaning standards: Survey, Hot Work, and Preservation
• A proactive attitude toward safety—for yourself and your team
