Job description

We have an exciting Band 7 role within our established Children's Community Nursing team. These roles are a fantastic opportunity for experienced children’s nurses with a passion for supporting children with medical complexities; supporting nurseries, schools, and respite settings to manage the health, well-being, and medical needs of children.

The role involves leading the team in supporting children with medical complexity. The post requires highly skilled individuals with excellent organisational and communication skills.

The successful applicant will work autonomously and collaboratively across organisations, ensuring professionals are supported to provide effective safe care to children with complex medical needs.

This role will offer strong clinical leadership to the nursing team within special schools, ensuring the highest standards of care delivery, ensuring pathways are based on best evidence-based practice and adherence to local and national guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct delivery and care management and oversight of a defined caseload with long-term medical complexity
  • Support and deliver safe, effective care to children/young people and their families, ensuring empathy and quality is everyone’s prime objective
  • Clinical and professional leadership, inspire, motivate and empower others
  • Highly visible and have an accessible approach for the children, young people and their families
  • Lead in supporting children within special schools ensuring their complex needs are met safely and effectively
  • Working collaboratively and effectively across boundaries and organisational disciplines
  • Responsibility for developing high-quality training materials and programmes to support and underpin effective consistent and high-level training
  • Supporting the delegation of clinical tasks and skills to staff and carers responsible for the children in their given setting

The post holder will be flexible with their hours to provide support as needed, which may include occasional evenings and weekends, and will work across Blackpool and Fylde & Wyre.
