Specialist - Chemical Hazard Evaluation - 30921

We are seeking a regulatory scientist to assess the environmental hazard and risk of industrial and consumer chemicals under UK REACH and CLP Regulations. The role involves working within our Chemicals Assessment Unit (CAU) to evaluate data, describe study methods, and contribute to environmental classifications and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will:

1. Assess the reliability and relevance of ecotoxicity and environmental fate data in chemical dossiers;
2. Summarize and present findings from environmental studies and fate data;
3. Describe test methods, data limitations, and uncertainties;
4. Determine environmental classifications under CLP and UK REACH standards;
5. Conduct quality assurance reviews and interpret data critically;
6. Identify research priorities and contribute to guideline development;
7. Work within specified timescales to deliver high-quality outputs;
8. Collaborate with colleagues and external partners.

This role involves responding to incidents, with training provided, and may require travel. The team supports UK environmental policy and works internationally to manage chemical risks.
