Job description

Specialist Biomedical Scientist, Microbiology (PF)

Participate in and assist with clinical trials, development of new tests, and research & validation of equipment, ensuring compliance with all policies required by regulatory directives, accreditation bodies, and local management policies and practices.

Provide technical advice to clinical staff. Perform and interpret routine and specialist biomedical investigations, participating daily in the scientific and technical activities of the laboratory under the supervision of senior staff.

Assist senior staff in ensuring compliance with policies from regulatory directives, accreditation bodies, and local management, including iPP policies, MHRA, NHSCSP, HTA, HFEA, UKAS, and other relevant bodies.

Utilise laboratory LIMS, Q-Pulse quality monitoring system, and other software according to protocols, including assisting in data entry, document review, non-conformance review, and quality assurance.

Communicate efficiently and courteously, whether face-to-face, by telephone, or electronically, referring complex enquiries to senior staff as appropriate.

Participate actively in laboratory and other meetings as directed by senior staff.

Plan and prioritize work, training, audits, and respond to routine and urgent activities as directed.

Support continuous professional development and the adoption of new technologies and systems.

Report incidents and adverse events; demonstrate ongoing competency and participate in CPD activities.

Act as an ambassador for Diversity and Inclusion, embodying the values and behaviors of SYNLAB.

Undertake additional duties as requested by management, ensuring statutory and mandatory training is completed within designated timeframes.

Observe safety regulations, attend mandatory courses, report incidents, assist in investigations, participate in risk assessments, and ensure equipment is maintained and operated as per SOPs.
