Job description

Role: Specialist Biomedical Scientist - Haematology
Location: London, HCA Laboratories (Shropshire House)
Hours: Permanent, Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Shifts: 7.5 hour shifts Monday to Friday, with weekend rota participation required
Salary: Competitive, with weekend work paid as overtime (benefits included)

As a Biomedical Scientist, your responsibilities include processing samples accurately, validating results, and assisting the Department Head in Haematology. You will perform high-quality analytical work to support comprehensive pathology services.

This is a full-time BMS 1 (Band 6) position, offering a competitive salary based on experience. The weekday shifts are:

  • 07:30 - 16:00
  • 08:00 - 16:30
  • 09:00 - 17:30
  • 10:00 - 16:30
  • 12:30 - 21:00
  • 08:00 - 14:00
  • 09:00 - 20:30

Key duties include:

  • Processing samples swiftly and accurately
  • Interpreting, validating, and reporting results promptly
  • Monitoring and entering referral lab results
  • Participating in weekend and night shift rotas
  • Completing external quality control
  • Handling telephone inquiries
  • Assisting in daily laboratory operations and equipment maintenance
  • Ensuring quality standards and safety policies are followed
  • Stock management and training development
