Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time, substantive Specialist Biomedical Scientist to work in the Liverpool Clinical Laboratories (LCL) Immunocytochemistry Team.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and adaptable HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with experience in Histology and a strong understanding of Immunocytochemistry testing within Cellular Pathology.

Requirements include a BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent, registration with the HCPC as a BMS, and completion of the IBMS Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology. Candidates with 2 years' demonstrable equivalent experience in Histology but without the diploma will also be considered.

The role involves supporting the delivery of Immunocytochemistry diagnostics, maintaining and operating analytical equipment, reviewing staining results, and monitoring quality control trends. The department encourages continual improvement and innovation in techniques and equipment evaluation.

Applicants should be able to work independently and as part of a team, with responsibilities including deputising for the team leader, involvement in recruitment, training, and quality management activities.

This position is based at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, serving a diverse population across Merseyside and the North West, with facilities at Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool Women’s Hospital, and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
