A healthcare organization in Barnstaple is looking for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Biochemistry. The successful candidate will lead specialist investigations, ensure quality in laboratory analyses, and supervise a team. We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Biochemistry to join our team at the Northern site in Barnstaple. The role involves technical investigations, routine maintenance, troubleshooting analyzers, supervising and training staff, and taking charge of sections including result authorization.

Our laboratories are at the forefront of research, particularly in diabetes and gastroenterology autoimmunity, and are accredited to UKAS ISO 15189 standards.

The department uses advanced systems such as Q-Pulse for quality management and ICE for syndrome-based requesting. We operate Roche Cobas analyzers and are committed to providing high-quality diagnostic services to our trust and GP practices.
Working hours are 37.5 per week, with shifts from 09:00 to 17:30, late shifts from 12:30 to 20:00, night shifts from 20:00 to 09:00, and weekend days from 09:00 to 20:00. The salary is aligned with Agenda for Change 2025/6 rates, including a forthcoming pay award.
