The Blood Sciences Department at Birmingham Children's Hospital is seeking a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist in the haematology department. Applicants must have their Specialist IBMS Portfolio, or be HCPC registered with relevant Haematology laboratory experience and post-registration experience in a UK Haematology/Blood Transfusion department.
Our department provides a 24/7 service performing a wide range of paediatric investigations for children with leukaemia and bleeding disorders, supporting regional paediatric medicine and surgery services. This includes work in Emergency Departments, paediatric Intensive Care Units, Cardiac and Liver surgery, and Bone Marrow Transplant centres. The department supports career development and offers a stimulating work environment.
The successful candidate will have prior experience in Haematology, maintain professional standards, and stay up-to-date with developments in Haematology and Transfusion Sciences. They will rotate through Diagnostic Haematology, Blood Transfusion, and Specialist Haemostasis sections, contributing to high-quality diagnostic services.
Participation in the 24/7 out-of-hours service is required, including rotations across Haematology, Blood Transfusion, and Specialist Coagulation, including Flow Cytometry sections.
