Specialist Band 6 Physiotherapist North West Ventilation Service
Part Time 22.5hours per week Wednesday to Friday
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our well-established multi-disciplinary team in the North West Ventilation Service. This role would suit someone who is looking to gain experience with all aspects of long term ventilation, weaning and cough augmentation. The post will incorporate some weekend working and an expectation to join the overnight Physiotherapy on call rota for the main department.
The North West Ventilation Service is a tertiary referral centre in the North West region, caring for patients requiring domiciliary non-invasive/invasive ventilation and cough augmentation adjuncts. Our clients include patients with chronic respiratory disease, neuromuscular diseases and obesity related breathing disorders. We additionally provide specialist weaning support and interventions to complex patients as part of our regional ventilation weaning programme. Services are delivered from a dedicated 12 bedded inpatient unit with an adjoining outpatient area and additionally within patient's own homes. There is extensive and well established multi-disciplinary working at all levels.
The department is committed to CPD and moving the Governments' initiatives forward. Applicants must have a broad range of post graduate experience. They should also be enthusiastic, motivated, dynamic and a team player.
To help deliver a comprehensive physiotherapy service to patients in the area of specialty that you are working in.
To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with a diverse and often complex presentation. You will require excellent clinical reasoning to develop and deliver individual treatment programs and plan appropriate discharges, and be able to prioritise to clinical need.
To be responsible for organising and managing your own caseload to meet service need and patient priorities.
Be able to support, appraise and educate more junior staff, rehabilitation assistants and students.
Support your team leaders and deputise as required.
To have excellent communication skills with patients, relatives and be able to show empathy and understanding
Work as part of the therapy team and wider MDT demonstrating excellent communication skills.
Maintain Confidentiality, dignity and professionalism at all times.
To participate in the weekend and On call rotas as departmental policy
To maintain your professional standards of practice and codes of conduct and ensure any staff under your supervision maintain these as well.
