As our Special School Nurse Practitioner, you'll be a health hero and a vital role model, inspiring healthy habits and delivering exceptional care. You'll partner with our supportive Team Lead, contributing to the smooth and effective running of a service that puts children first.

Managing your own diverse caseload across two school sites, you'll become a trusted face for students with complex health needs, utilising your clinical skills to develop personalised care plans that empower them to engage with their education.

This isn't just about individual care; you'll also be a key player in our proactive health promotion initiatives. Collaborating with the wider school health team, you'll ensure all pupils have equal access to vital health information, enabling them to make informed choices and build a foundation for a healthy future.

Important Note: This is a term-time only contract, offering a fantastic work-life balance with 18.75 hours per week, following a convenient two-week pattern:

• Week 1: Thursday & Friday, 08:00 - 16:00

Be Their Voice: Advocate fiercely, guaranteeing the highest standard of care and ensuring every health need is heard and met.

Invest in Others: Develop and deliver dynamic, evidence-based training, empowering school staff and fellow professionals, with clear pathways for growth.

Orchestrate Transitions: Collaborate with all stakeholders, ensuring smooth journeys for young people as they progress through education and into adult services.

Inform & Influence: Provide vital health insights for EHCPs and conduct key RHA assessments.

Champion Wellbeing: Proactively safeguard children, embedding their welfare in every action and upholding all safeguarding policies.

Person Specification

Registration

• Current NMC registration - RSCN / RN Child

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level
• Evidence of continued professional development relevant to the post

Knowledge, skills, Training and experience

• Experience of working with children and young people with complex needs
• Substantial post registration experience including Paediatric care provision
• Knowledge of Public Health Agenda
• Experience of managing own caseload
• Competent clinical skills
• Demonstrate the understanding of team working and multi-disciplinary working
• Good understanding of Child Protection
• Ability to assess and manage risk
• Ability to travel to different geographical locations across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
• Experience of caring for children in the community setting/school setting/health promotion/Education
• Experience within a special school
• Evidence of working as an autonomous practitioner
• Full UK driving license with willingness to use own car for work purposes
