Special School Nursing Team Leader - Band 7

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Special School Nursing Service for a Band 7 Team Leader to manage the new nursing team at Greenmead School in Wandsworth.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has experience in leadership in community paediatric nursing, children's continence, and working in a special school. An understanding of the needs of children and young people with disabilities and/or additional health problems is essential.

We would welcome applications from committed nurses with excellent clinical and leadership experience, who can communicate at a senior level and manage their time effectively.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership to a team of nurses supporting pupils with complex health needs at Greenmead School. They will work within a multi-professional team, conduct assessments, deliver clinical care, and ensure safeguarding policies are followed. They will serve as a role model and provide advice and support to staff, parents, and pupils.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Main Responsibilities and Duties

  • Act as line manager for nurses and healthcare assistants in the school
  • Lead the Children’s Continence Service
  • Develop and promote integrated working to improve service outcomes
  • Ensure staff adhere to policies and contribute to service improvements
  • Collaborate with senior managers and other team leaders
  • Implement service specifications and complete reports timely
  • Delegate tasks for coordinated care
  • Act as a clinical resource and role model
  • Maintain high professional standards

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Manage the children’s continence caseload and ensure KPIs are met
  • Assess and plan care for children and young people
  • Review care plans regularly
  • Make referrals as needed
  • Lead team meetings and ensure safeguarding supervision
  • Represent the nursing team in school and perform clinical skills confidently
  • Attend key meetings and ensure infection control policies are followed
