We are looking for registered Paediatric Nurses to join the Specialist School Nursing Team, supporting a defined caseload of children and young people aged 3-19 years with complex healthcare needs and disabilities within community and school settings. You will assess, manage, plan, and deliver care, being professionally and legally accountable.

The post holder will work in schools with children with learning disabilities and complex health needs, carrying out clinical procedures in partnership with other professionals and agencies to meet identified care needs. The nursing team establishes and maintains effective communication, working closely with parents, carers, education, and other agencies to ensure children reach their full potential in school.

If you enjoy caring for children with complex needs of all ages, in a growing and dynamic team, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work collaboratively with children, parents, and carers to achieve the best possible health and wellbeing outcomes.
  2. Assess the health needs of children and the school community, agree on individual and school health plans, and deliver these through multidisciplinary partnerships.
  3. Provide skilled, effective, evidence-based nursing care for children with complex care needs, including technology-dependent children.
  4. Promote the optimal use of resources and secure high standards of care for school-aged children.
  5. Deliver and manage training for school and health staff in health care delivery, including competency-based training and staff assessment.
  6. Manage the provision of continence products to children in school.
  7. Support a team of nurses working in special schools and complex needs, ensuring the children’s health needs are met.
Service Details:

The service operates year-round with core hours Monday-Friday, 9-5. Regular supervision sessions and team meetings are scheduled to support staff and safeguard practices.

Additional Information:

Starting with NELFT, new starters undergo a comprehensive induction at our Rainham, Essex head office, including mandatory training and engagement activities. The post is subject to a probationary period, with internal applicants being exempt. The role attracts a High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary, with specific payment ranges. Sponsorship options are limited; please check eligibility under the UKVI points-based system.
