Job summary

Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust in Barnet is seeking a flexible, motivated Health Care Assistant to support children and young people with complex health needs to attend school and achieve their potential.

You will travel between Oakleigh School, Maple Down, Oak Lodge and Northway to assist with heights and weights, administer medications and support registered nurses, liaising with other agencies involved in a child’s care.

Qualifications

• Flexible, motivated and highly skilled health care assistant.
• Experience supporting children and young people with health needs in school settings.

Responsibilities

• Supporting children’s care plans and administering medication in line with CLCH policies and procedures.
• Carrying out height and weight measurements and completing continence assessments.
• Working closely with registered nurses and liaising with other agencies involved in a child’s care.
• Supporting the training of Learning Support Assistants and Teaching Assistants so they can deliver children’s care plans safely while at school.
• Contributing to the development of evidence-based practice within the Special Schools Nursing Team.
• Working flexibly as part of the team and independently when required, including occasions when you may be the only member of the nursing team on site.
