Job summary

CENTRAL LONDON COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE NHS TRUST is seeking a flexible health care assistant to support children with health needs in Barnet special schools. You will travel between Oakleigh School and Maple Down, assisting with care plans, medications, measurements, and liaison with nursing staff.

You will support training for Learning Support Assistants and Teaching Assistants, contribute to evidence-based practice, and work both as part of a small team and independently when required.

Qualifications

• Supports children's care plans and administers medication per policy.
• Performs height and weight measurements and continence assessments.
• Liaises with nurses, other agencies, and school staff.

Job description

Barnet Special School Nursing team are looking for a flexible, motivated and highly skilled health care assistant to join us in supporting children and young people with health needs to attend school and achieve their potential. We are based in 2 Special Schools inBarnet, Oakleigh School and Maple downbut also provide outreach services toOak Lodge and Northway. You will be expected to travel between sites to support the nursing team with tasks such as heights and weights so will need excellentcommunication skills, administration and IT skills to support the team in deliveringa high-quality service to the pupils and any professional partners. Key duties include:

• Supporting children's care plans and administering medication in line with CLCH policies and procedures.
• Carrying out height and weight measurements and completing continence assessments.
• Working closely with registered nurses and liaising with other agencies involved in a child's care.
• Supporting the training of Learning Support Assistants and Teaching Assistants so they can deliver children's care plans safely while at school.
• Contributing to the development of evidence-based practice within the Special Schools Nursing Team.
• Working flexibly as part of the team and independently when required, including occasions when you may be the only member of the nursing team on site.
