A leading charitable housing association is seeking an experienced Special Projects General Counsel. The candidate will oversee Latent Defect Claims and provide legal advice on complex construction contracts. Salary: £60,112 per annum plus eligibility for Performance Related Bonus

Newlon Housing Trust is a successful charitable housing association and one of the major providers of new affordable housing in north and east London.
We have an opportunity for an experienced Lawyer to join our team and oversee and manage all cases relating to Latent Defect Claims. You will provide legal advice on complex construction contracts, license agreements and other legal matters, support and monitor the day-to-day running of case files, and oversee proceedings in the Technology & Construction Court. You will also provide legal advice to the Special Projects Team and review and input into submissions for adjudication and arbitration proceedings.
With a minimum of three years’ post qualification experience as a construction lawyer working within the property arena, you will ideally have worked, since qualification, as a full-time construction solicitor or similar. A strong academic background, with a minimum 2:1 grade at degree level in Law, is essential or you will hold an equivalent postgraduate qualification in Construction Law. You will have a thorough understanding of the relevant Housing Acts and Construction Regulations Laws, along with an understanding of Disrepair issues relating to the maintenance of properties. You will also be able to identify the key issues and business parameters in most complex cases and communicate these effectively to senior management.
