Overview

Special Project Manager (Reporting to COO)

Location: Remote (Reading Based) Expectation to meet once a week in Reading.

Salary: £40,000-£45,000

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

At Good Pair Days, we’ve been redefining how people discover and enjoy wine at home across Australia and the UK. As we continue to grow, we’re hiring a Special Project Manager to drive our growth projects — powering execution, accelerating outcomes, and turning great ideas into real results. We’re an ambitious team and this role is suited for those with experience in a startup environment and willing to operate outside of a typical job description. Ideally, we are looking for someone who thrives in high-growth environments, connects strategy to action, and makes things happen. You will work with the COO and not limited to just one department. As a result you will complete projects across Operations, Marketing, Customer Service, Procurement, Wine, Tech and Retail Stores.

What You’ll Do
  • Act as the COO's 2IC (Second In Command).
  • Work with the COO to deliver projects across the company, translating goals into streamlined delivery.
  • Drive key cross-departmental initiatives — including operational excellence, AI implementation, and expansion initiatives.
  • Deliver continuous improvement projects, cost-saving measures and efficiency enhancements within the company.
  • Work with external third parties, internal stakeholders and colleagues to deliver each project.
  • Champion clear communication and project transparency company-wide
  • Flex your hours occasionally to connect with our Australian team - occasional late night calls.
What You Bring
  • Proven project or operations management experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Preferably 3+ years in project delivery.
  • Strong initiative and proactive ownership — you anticipate needs before they arise
  • A confident communicator who keeps things moving and people motivated (we use Notion and Slack).
  • Experience with remote teams or multi-time zone businesses is a big plus
  • Experienced with creating business cases and analysing data to make decisions
  • No requirement to have specific wine knowledge.
Example Projects
  • Launching our first UK Wine Retail Store & Bar (London)
  • Integrating AI into all aspects of the business
  • International Expansion into the Netherlands
  • Rolling out our own fleet of delivery vans in the UK and Australia
  • Acquiring and relocating to a new warehouse in Sydney
What You’ll Get
  • £40,000 - £45,000 Annual Salary
  • Free Good Pair Days Wine Subscription
  • MacBook Air
  • 20 Days Annual Leave + 8 Public Holidays
  • 5% Employer Pension Contribution
  • Up to 20 Days Work From Abroad
  • A Role With Real Impact, Visibility, and Variety
Good To Know
  • You’ll report to the COO, based in Reading. Expectation to meet in person once per week.
