Job description

Special needs teaching assistants are required for a special needs school in Trowbridge; full-time and long-term positions available.

The school, located in the heart of Trowbridge, is seeking teaching assistants to start in September or sooner, working with students on a 1:1 basis. Working hours are from 8:30 to 3:30, Monday to Friday, during term time only. The school caters to a wide age range, covering both primary and secondary levels, and provides high-quality education to students with various special needs, including but not limited to ASC, PMLD, SLD, and MLD.

The school has a wonderful team and is part of a larger federation of special needs schools, making it one of the largest SEN providers in the UK. Successful placements may lead to permanent positions, offering a great opportunity to develop a career working with children and supporting their educational development.

Ideal candidates will have:

• Experience working with children, from previous school roles or other settings such as youth centres or children's homes.
• Alternatively, experience supporting adults with special needs, such as autism or cerebral palsy, in a care setting.
• The ability to meet the needs of children and support educational goals set by teachers and the school.
• Teamwork skills and the ability to work independently and proactively.
• Capability to handle daily challenges, including managing triggers for challenging behaviour, while maintaining a nurturing approach.

An enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one is required.
