Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Oldbury
Job Type: Full-Time

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special needs?
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team at a Oldbury school.
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with a range of special educational needs, helping them to thrive in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide one-on-one and group support to students with special needs.
  2. Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  3. Support students during lessons, ensuring they are engaged and making progress.
  4. Help with personal care and mobility where required.
  5. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), and other staff to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  6. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting independence and self-confidence in students.
  7. Maintain accurate records of students' progress and assist in assessments.

About You:
We are looking for someone who is passionate, patient, and proactive, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. A teaching assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent) or experience working with children with special needs.
  2. Experience working with children with a range of learning needs, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, and physical disabilities.
  3. Knowledge: Understanding of special educational needs, including behavioural, emotional, and cognitive challenges.
  4. Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
  5. Compassion and Patience: A genuine passion for helping children succeed and thrive, with a calm and empathetic approach.
  6. Desirable: First Aid training, Team-Teach or other behaviour management training is a bonus.
