Job summary

Ten90 Recruitment Group Ltd is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEN autism-focused school in Greater London. This is a full-time long term opportunity working Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 3.30pm.

The role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and has previous experience working within an SEN setting. A trial day will help determine suitability for the role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with children with SEN such as autism.
  • Strong understanding of supporting children with additional needs.
  • Patient, calm and resilient approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting students with autism in the classroom environment.
  • Assisting the teacher with planning and delivering tailored activities.
  • Helping students to stay focused and engaged with learning tasks.
  • Managing behaviour in a positive and supportive manner.
  • Providing one to one support when required.
  • Encouraging communication and social interaction skills.
  • Assisting with personal care where needed.
  • Supporting transitions between activities throughout the day.
