Special Needs Teaching Assistant

  • Full time
  • £88.94 per day
  • 8.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday
  • September 2025
  • Long term contract, term time only

GSL Education are working with a Special Needs school in Exeter who are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join their team.

The school caters for children and young adults aged 11-16 with SEMH. This includes those who have Autism, ADHD and present challenging behaviours associated with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for compassionate and patient Teaching Assistants to join the school on a full time, long term basis. We are looking for someone with an adaptable approach along with a great sense of humour and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEND (professionally or personally)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with children and their families
  • A patient, empathetic, and positive attitude toward supporting children with additional needs
  • A collaborative approach to working alongside teachers, parents, and other professionals
  • Be available asap on a full-time basis
