Salary: £100 - £110 per day

Are you passionate about helping young people who need a more tailored, therapeutic approach to education?

A welcoming and inclusive independent school in Exeter is looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with children and young people aged 7 16 who have a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

The school environment:
The setting provides a supportive, student-focused approach, designed to help learners re-engage with education in a safe and nurturing environment. Staff work as a close-knit team, using consistent routines, relational practice, and trauma-informed strategies to build trust and promote progress.

Your role will involve:

  • Supporting individual students and small groups with learning, regulation, and social development

  • Creating a positive, structured environment to support emotional and academic growth

  • Working closely with teachers and support staff to deliver personalised learning plans

  • Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and confidence in all learners

  • Being a reliable, calming presence in the lives of students who need it most

We re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children or young people with SEN, particularly SEMH or ASC

  • Is calm, empathetic, and passionate about making a difference

  • Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively

  • Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries

  • Holds relevant training or qualifications (desirable but not essential)
