Autism (ASD) specialist Teacher

Rotherham, S63

£162 - £223 per day

Start date: 09/06/2025

Contract type: Temp - perm following 12 weeks successful temporary placement

Working hours: Monday Friday, term time only

Unique School Solutions are working with a specialist school in Rotherham who are needing a SEND Teacher to work in their primary division, teaching students with Autism (ASD) and/or Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). You will work with small classes of up to 8 children, all of whom have at least 1:1 Teaching Assistant support. The role is to start 09/06/2025 and for the right person could lead to a permanent job after 12 weeks.

Essential requirements for the role:

  • Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, ideally ASD and/or PDA. This needs to be within the last 2 years, and within a school setting
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • The ability to plan and deliver schemes of work
  • A good level of physical fitness. This is a demanding role
  • Patience, empathy and calmness
  • The ability to lead groups of Teaching Assistants within your classroom
  • Makaton experience is desirable but not essential
