Special Needs Class Teacher

Experienced SEN teachers needed!Job Title: SEN Class Teacher
Location: Bolton
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary.

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN Class Teacher to support a brilliant SEN school in Bolton until the end of the academic year. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching students aged 11-16 with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD). This role involves delivering Maths and English Functional Skills, as well as Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education. You will be required to provide teaching support in other lessons in the event of absences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in Maths, English Functional Skills, and PSHE.
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the individual needs of students with PMLD and SLD.
  • Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants and other staff to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students in other subjects as required, ensuring a holistic approach to their education.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Maintain a safe and positive classroom environment that promotes learning and development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student progress.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Fulfil all teaching responsibilities, including marking and planning
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with students with PMLD and SLD.
  • Strong knowledge of Maths, English Functional Skills, and PSHE curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
Desirable:
  • Additional qualifications or training in special education needs.
  • Experience using assistive technology and adaptive resources.
Working Hours:
  • Full-time, Monday to Friday.
