Special Investigator

Salary: £33,250 to £40,000 per annum (Depending on experience)

Location: Lakeside North Harbour, Portsmouth (Remote or Hybrid depending on location)

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Special Investigator to join Charles Taylor Specialist Investigations Services. Your role will be crucial in protecting our clients from fraudulent activity. If you have keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a passion for uncovering fraud, this role is ideal for you!

As a Special Investigator, you will conduct thorough investigations into suspected fraudulent insurance claims, collaborating with colleagues, clients, law enforcement, and legal professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate potentially fraudulent claims across various insurance policies including Travel, Life, Accidental Death, Household, Motor, Liability, Workers Compensation, and Defense Base Act claims.
  • Utilize cognitive telephone interviews, validation calls, video interviews, OSINT gathering, document validation software, and coordinate field investigations through our international network.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Triagesuspected fraud referrals and recommends investigation actions.
  • Follow FCA guidelines in recording complaints.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with clients.
  • Record fraud savings for clients.
  • Act as a role model and be approachable to team members.
  • Assess evidence impartially and make informed decisions.
  • Manage investigations efficiently, keeping tasks up to date.
  • Prepare detailed investigation reports and repudiation/challenge letters.
  • Deliver high customer service levels while protecting client liabilities and paying only valid claims.
  • Possess or be willing to study for a fraud qualification.
  • Conduct QA on social media and OSINT reports to ensure high standards.

Person Specification

The candidate should understand general insurance and fraud investigation practices, including the evidence required to reject claims on fraud grounds.

  • Strong investigative skills.
  • Experience in motor claims/fraud investigation is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
