Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) – Secondary School in Hackney Are you an experienced and dedicated SENCO with a passion for fostering inclusive education?

Our vibrant secondary school in Hackney is looking for a skilled SENCO to lead and develop the provision for students with special educational needs (SEN), ensuring that all students receive the support they need to thrive.

About the Role As the SENCO, you will oversee and enhance the educational support for students with special educational needs throughout the school.

Working in close collaboration with teaching staff, senior leaders, and external partners, you will implement strategies that create an inclusive, supportive, and enriching learning environment.

This role is central to ensuring that the needs of all students are met and that every child has an equal opportunity to succeed.

Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the school’s SEN provision, ensuring high-quality, individualized support for students with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).

Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and effective learning strategies for students with SEND.

Provide guidance, training, and support to staff on best practices for meeting the diverse needs of students with SEND.

Monitor the progress of students with SEND, ensuring appropriate interventions are in place and assess their effectiveness.

Work with parents, carers, and external agencies to create a holistic support system for students.

Ensure the school complies with all SEND legislation and policies.

Lead and manage a team of teaching assistants and support staff to deliver targeted, impactful interventions.

What We’re Looking For A qualified teacher with the National Award for SEN Coordination (or in the process of completing it).

Proven experience in managing SEND provision in a secondary school environment.

A deep passion for inclusive education and a commitment to promoting equal opportunities for all students.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

The ability to build positive relationships with staff, students, parents, and external partners.
