Job summary

Villa Real School in Consett, County Durham, is seeking a dynamic Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprentice to support pupils with SLD, PMLD and Autism and to develop knowledge of students with complex needs within a bespoke curriculum.

The role offers a supportive, inclusive environment and requires commitment to safeguarding, professional conduct and continuing development; term-time only plus two weeks’ pay, with annual leave and school holidays.

Qualifications

• Dynamic and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprentice seeking to develop knowledge of students with a high level of need.
• Training includes manual handling, positioning, eating and feeding, health and safety, safeguarding and team teaching as part of the school training package.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Term time only plus two additional weeks’ pay with entitlement for annual leave and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a multi-professional team to meet the needs of pupils and students attending Villa Real School.
• Behave in a professional way at all times in keeping with the vision and ethos of the school.
• Work with individuals or groups of pupils carrying out educational programmes, as directed by the teacher.
• Support with eating and feeding programmes, communication targets, moving and handling plans, medical management plans, behaviour management plans and toilet training programmes as directed by the teacher.
• During breaks, supervise pupils.
• Take a full part in both school based and externally provided professional development.
• Carry out other duties or responsibilities as required by the Head Teacher.
