Job summary

The Isle of Wight NHS Trust is seeking a Matron for the Special Care Baby Unit for a permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours per week). Band 8a salary is £57,528 - £64,750 per annum.

You will lead nursing, midwifery and AHPs, ensure safe, compassionate care, and collaborate with Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust to deliver high-quality neonatal services. The Trust promotes inclusive care and flexible working arrangements.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with live NMC registration.
• Educated to bachelor level in Nursing, Midwifery, Leadership and Management or an AHP degree.
• Management qualification or relevant leadership experience.
• UK professional registration is required for the post.

Responsibilities

• Lead nursing, midwifery and AHPs within Special Care Baby Unit.
• Deliver safe, cost-effective and compassionate care with evidence for assurance.
• Line manage Senior Sisters, Charge Nurses, Team Leaders and some AHPs.
• Provide credible, visible leadership to the Care Group.
• Support collaboration across Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.

We are recruiting for aMatron for Special Care Baby Unit who wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS. The successful candidate will be expected to support the Group model of working, collaborating across both Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust to deliver high-quality neonatal services and shared organisational objectives.

Main duties of the job

• Responsibility for the leadership of nursing, midwifery and Allied Health Professionals (AHP's) within Special Care Baby Unit.
• Responsible for the delivery of safe and clinically and cost effective and compassionate care within the service, providing assurance evidence in this regard to the Head of Nursing & Quality.
• Has professional responsibility for Senior Sisters, Charge Nurses, Team Leaders and some Allied Health Professionals within the services.
• Leads clinical services in the Care Group.
• Provides credible, visible and effective leadership nursing and midwifery staff within the services.

• Registered nurse (relevant to the field of practice of the Care Group and or Matron).
• Live NMC Registration.
• Educated to a bachelor's degree level in Nursing, Midwifery, Leadership and Management or an Allied Health Professional degree.

• Management Qualification or relevant experience.
