Job summary

Railscape Limited, in partnership with the University of Essex, seeks a Spatial Computing and AI Engineer (KTP Associate) to develop an intelligent 3D visualisation platform for accessibility-aware rail stations.

You will combine AI, 3D mapping, and user-centric design to create interactive walkthroughs, integrating sensor data, video, and spatial information with stakeholders. The role blends research with practical implementation, offering mentorship and university resources.

Responsibilities

• Using 3D spatial cameras to model railway station infrastructures and visualize passenger routes.
• Develop digital 3D mapping tools for capturing routes from video, dense point clouds, and localisation data.
• Create and optimise 3D Gaussian Splat models of stations/assets for various hardware.
• Apply machine learning for object detection and scene segmentation to identify accessibility issues and risks.
• Integrate conversational AI into assistive applications for personalised route suggestions.
• Develop 3D visualisations for AR/VR interfaces and interactive walkthroughs.
• Collaborate with operational staff, software teams, and external rail stakeholders.
