Job summary

ALTEN in London is seeking a System Engineer to join our space mission team, supporting a major spacecraft program and ensuring mission requirements are met with reliability.

You will define, coordinate, and validate system-level behaviour across electrical, mechanical, RF, software and payload domains, leading requirements flow-down, architecture and verification activities to deliver proven spacecraft systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Direct space industry experience with spacecraft or space hardware is required.
• Experience defining system-level requirements and interfaces.
• Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, RF, software and payload docs.
• Proven V&V activities at system level and creation of ICDs and specs.
• Strong analytical and risk assessment skills for trade studies.

Responsibilities

• Lead system-level requirements definition, flow-down, and traceability across all spacecraft subsystems.
• Develop and maintain system architecture with coherent interfaces between domains.
• Produce and manage ICDs, system specifications, and verification plans.
• Coordinate technical activities across multidisciplinary teams to meet mission objectives.
• Support trade-off analyses, design reviews, and lifecycle decision‑making.
• Lead system-level verification and validation, including testing and performance assessment.
• Analyze subsystem interactions and drive mitigation to ensure spacecraft reliability.
