Spacecraft Production Facility Manager | Guildford | Competitive salary + strong package

Responsible for managing and efficiently operating the AIT Cleanroom and bridges, ensuring that cleanroom areas are properly set up and maintained to enable safe work on multiple spacecraft missions. This key role supports the AIT team to meet Spacecraft Production schedules and delivery deadlines within a safe and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate logistics for management and maintenance of loading bay, Cleanroom, bridges, and AIT containers
• Oversee spacecraft thermal chamber use
• Coordinate planned maintenance with SSTL facilities team and AIT users, ensuring no conflicts
• Supervise outside contractors and ensure adherence to Cleanroom procedures
• Manage storage areas for flight hardware and transfer equipment to/from offsite storage
• Maintain inventory of all AIT equipment and manage storage disposal
• Allocate and maintain EGSE equipment

Maintenance of Tools and Equipment

• Coordinate movements of tools and equipment within the Cleanroom and loading bay
• Inspect lifting equipment and oversee onsite service and repair of AIT installations
• Serve as point of contact for lifting equipment inspections and facility maintenance

Safety and Compliance

• Maintain AIT access list and provide induction training
• Keep COSHH and safety records up to date
• Maintain AIT lifting and handling equipment
• Ensure work areas are safe, tidy, and follow best practices

Logistical Services

• Develop and maintain AIT Cleanroom processes
• Order non-flight AIT equipment as needed
• Handle loading/unloading of AIT equipment using forklifts
• Perform small mechanical construction tasks
• Maintain logs and ensure proper training and enforcement of procedures

Person Specification

Previous Experience

Experience working within a Cleanroom or engineering laboratory environment is preferable. Background as an electrical lab technician, wireman, or mechanical apprentice would be beneficial. Experience with machine shop tooling, risk assessments, COSHH, lifting equipment, pressure systems, and gas safety regulations is desirable. Planning, scheduling, and budgeting experience are also important.
