Job summary

ALTEN in Portsmouth is seeking an experienced Vibration Test Engineer to join our engineering team. You will perform hands-on vibration and shock testing on space and commercial hardware in an environmental test lab, manage test setup, data capture, and reporting, and support customers with accurate test results.

You will own test activities from preparation through delivery, work with internal teams and external customers, and help maintain test facilities.

Qualifications

• Hands-on vibration testing in a lab/environmental test setting.
• Setting up and performing vibration and shock tests with systems and rigs.
• Recording, processing and reporting vibration/shock test data.
• Understanding national/international testing standards and safe lab practices.
• Interpreting test procedures and technical requirements.
• Strong customer-facing communication with technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on vibration and shock testing on space and commercial hardware.
• Set up sine, random and classical shock tests per test requirements.
• Complete logs and ensure data is captured and recorded.
• Post-process data and produce technical test reports.
• Review procedures and provide feedback for safe, effective testing.
• Calibrate test equipment and support lab facilities maintenance.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external customers to provide testing services.
• Support quotations, test scheduling and cost estimation.
