Join Anglian Water's Strategic Pipeline Alliance as a Regional Archaeology Lead.

Location: Hybrid work from SPA office, construction site offices across Anglian Water region and home
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about contributing to one of the UK's most ambitious water infrastructure projects? The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is searching for a Regional Archaeology Lead to support and enhance our project delivery team.

What will you be doing as our new Regional Archaeology Lead?

Working with the SPA Archaeology Lead, you will manage the archaeological response for all schemes within your region. You will perform a technical checker role within the quality assurance process ensuring that deliverables are completed to a suitable standard prior to submission to the SPA Archaeology Lead for approval.

You will co-ordinate regional team tasks ensuring that the Safer Every Day principles are first and foremost and provide adherence to the scheme programmes in compliance with the SPA Archaeology Strategy.

You will attend multi-disciplinary meetings, liaising with planners, commercial team, delivery, ecology, etc ensuring that the archaeological programme accords and aligns with all other aspects of the scheme.

Key responsibilities:
  • Produce and check heritage documents such as desk-based assessments, fieldwork specifications, Environmental Statement chapters and technical appendices to ensure that their team produce high quality deliverables for approval by the SPA Archaeology Lead.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant technical documents and methods, e.g. WSIs andMethod Statements.
  • Providing a healthy and safe working environment is crucial, the Regional Lead will apply this approach to the management of their team, and to the design of any fieldwork.
  • Work with the SPA Archaeology and Delivery teams to complete all work to programme.
  • Ensure any changes to the agreed programme are communicated promptly and clearly.
  • Work with the SPA Archaeology Lead and Enabling Manager to mitigate the impacts of programme change.
A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours:

This job might be for you if you have:
  • Previous experience in an archaeology lead role for large infrastructure projects
Demonstrable experience of archaeological fieldwork to supervisor level at a minimum.
  • Experience of checking detailed archaeological deliverables
  • Experience of being a team member who facilitates the sharing of historic environment information across project and delivery teams
  • The ability to work flexibly across several projects and to meet required deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication, with excellent organisation and analytical skills
