Job summary

Anglian Water Group Ltd. is seeking an Estimator to join the Strategic Pipeline Alliance, supporting project delivery with detailed cost estimates and active collaboration with multi-discipline teams.

The role offers flexible/hybrid work from Peterborough or remote options. Required background includes engineering or quantity surveying, plus experience in infrastructure, utilities, or process plant estimating, with strong numeracy and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Engineering or Quantity Surveying degree, or equivalent estimating experience.
• Experience in infrastructure, utilities, or process plant estimating.
• Knowledge of civil, mechanical, electrical, or process control disciplines.
• Experience using estimating software.
• Strong numeracy and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and motivational skills.
• Team player with proactive approach to deadlines.
• Proficiency in MS Office and estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Provide Estimates appropriate to the stage of the project from high level comparative estimates for optioneering to detailed bottoms-up estimates for development of Target Costs.
• Work with multi-discipline teams to understand and quantify scope.
• Liaise with supply chain to develop estimates for specific items of scope (both Vendors and subcontractors).
• Utilise both Estimating software and MS Excel to prepare the Estimate.
• Identify best practice and advise where efficiencies can be made.
• Develop cost models for items which are repeated from site to site.
• Work closely with the Cost Managers to ensure a smooth transition from Estimating into Cost Management.

Contract & Location

Location: Flexible/Hybrid work from Peterborough office or remote from home.

Employment Type: Full-time.

Project Overview

The Strategic Pipeline Alliance is creating nearly 500 kilometres of new, interconnecting pipelines to help combat the impact of climate change and keep fresh, clean water flowing across the Anglian Water region. Our aim is to make the region, one of the most rapidly growing in the country, resilient to the risks of drought by securing water supplies for future generations. The new network of pipelines will be longer than HS2, making it one of the largest infrastructure projects for a generation.

The programme forms a key part of our Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP), which sets out how we will manage the water supplies in our region to meet current and future needs over 25 years. It is a critical, long‑term project and construction is due to begin in the summer of 2021 and will take nearly five years to build.

Anglian Water has joined forces with construction and engineering giants Costain, Farrans, Jacobs and Mott MacDonald, Bentley as part of a contract worth more than £350 million. We will complete one of the largest strategic water infrastructure projects the UK has ever seen and will create up to 500km of interconnecting pipelines.
