Overview

Position: Lunchtime Assistant x 2 positions

School: Southwick Community Primary School

Report to: School Business Manager

Salary: Grade 1 - £24,796 - £25,185 (pro rata to hours and weeks worked)

Term time only – 7.5 hours per week

Job purpose

To work with staff to ensure that the lunchtime runs efficiently and smoothly. To supervise children, making their safety and security the main priority, in the dining room and elsewhere around the school where necessary. The post holder will deal with children politely and positively, and undertake cleaning duties in the dining room as directed by the School Business Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise children in the area in which they eat their lunch.
  • Assist and supervise the clearing away and tidying of the eating area.
  • Supervise children after lunch, inside or outside the school building, ensuring health, safety and security in accordance with the School Behaviour Policy.
  • Maintain reasonable behaviour and safe conduct of pupils, dealing with incidents and minimising disruption.
  • Attend to accidents during lunchtime in accordance with school procedures and report to the duty leader.
  • Carry out other associated duties or variations as specified by the line manager.
  • Observe the principles of confidentiality and Data Protection.
  • Be aware of responsibility for personal health, safety and welfare and that of others affected by actions or inactions.
  • Support the School’s implementation of statutory requirements (e.g., Equality Act, Equal Opportunities, Child Protection).
  • Participate in new initiatives and service delivery improvements to support the School’s objectives.
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with the post as required by the line manager.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of all children.
