Job Purpose
Great Britain's electricity system is undergoing an ambitious, exciting, and vital transformation. We are creating a cleaner, greener system that protects the planet and serves future generations.
We are establishing our first South West regional energy team. This role is home-based in Southwest England until a suitable hub opens, with hybrid working options available.
The National Energy System Operator (NESO) will develop Regional Energy Strategic Plans (RESPs) for 11 regions across Great Britain, reflecting regional characteristics and integrating energy vectors like renewables, heat decarbonisation, hydrogen, networks, transport, and flexibility.
The purpose of this role is to coordinate engagement with local actors and regional teams to establish and develop energy planning within the region, emphasizing local input and regional collaboration.
Understanding and experience of the South West region are essential.
Our immediate focus is to build trust with stakeholders, establish processes and methodologies, and enhance capabilities in whole energy systems to support net zero initiatives.
As Great Britain’s electricity system operator, we balance supply and demand to keep electricity flowing reliably. In Summer 2024, we will transition to the National Energy System Operator (NESO), responsible for planning and operating the electricity and gas networks with operational independence and a focus on sustainability and affordability.
Our work impacts nearly everyone in Great Britain and shapes future energy consumption and usage.
We seek candidates with:
A competitive salary (£39,000 - £43,000), performance bonus, 26 days annual leave, and a contributory pension scheme with company matching up to 12%. We support professional growth, diversity, inclusion, and well-being.
The role closes on 29th September 2024 at 23:59. Early applications are encouraged. We are committed to diversity and flexible working arrangements to support all employees.
